Criteria

Eligibility

To apply for the Mark Mariani grant for First Generation Americans, you should be a current undergraduate or graduate student who is studying in the United States and the first generation in your family to live in the United States. The grant is open to all students regardless of their major or field of study. The purpose of the grant is to provide financial support for students who demonstrate academic excellence, financial need, and a commitment to achieving their educational and career goals.

Applicants should submit an essay of no more than 1000 words, which creatively addresses the following question:

“How has your experience as a first-generation American shaped your aspirations for the future, and how do you plan to use your education to give back to your community?”

We will select one winner who demonstrates potential, creativity, and passion for the field of landscape and home design. The grant will support the winner’s academic and career aspirations, providing financial assistance and opportunities to connect with leaders in the field.
